While the drug legalization movement notched several victories at the ballot box for marijuana last November, despite fighting against decades of War on Drugs propaganda, Americas newest legalization movement claims its victories by judicial decision.
Hot on the heels of a decision handed down by Montana District Judge G. Todd Baugh, which you can read about here in the post Seriously, Your Honor, What Could I Do? That 14 year old Vixen Wasn’t Taking “No” for an Answer… , America’s growing rape legalization movement claimed another victory last week when, according to Alternet and Salon:
Iowa pastor and youth counselor Brent Girouex, who claimed with a straight face that he was trying to “cure” teenage boys of their “homosexual urges” by having sex with them, has had his sentence reduced from 17 years in prison to sex offender treatment and probation.
Now I am sure that the Judge in this case had a damn good reason for reducing the sentence from 17 years to a stern talking to and a slap on the wrist. Let’s look at the facts of the case:
Since Girouex confessed to having sex with four underage boys, eight additional young men have come forward saying they were sexually violated by the 31-year-old pastor. Girouex, who is not longer a pastor at the Victory Fellowship Church, believed that he could rape away the gay by “praying while he had sexual contact” with the boys, all in an effort to keep them “sexually pure” for God.
According to reports, he told police that “when they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind.”
I got nothing.
Just like Judge Baugh in the Montana case, the only reason I can see for the light sentence is that the Judge must think the crime committed should be legal. How else do you sentence a teacher who uses his position of authority to rape his student, a victim who later committed suicide, to 30 days (yes that is days, not years) in jail, and a sexual predator pastor with 4 confessed victims and 8 more alleged victims who had the nerve to claim he was helping the boys he raped by attempting to fuck the homosexuality right out of them to probation and treatment?
Even more disgusting in this case, the Judge is allowing this sexual predator visitation with his children.
“I don’t want [my children] anywhere near him,” Erin Girouex said to KCII local news. She stated that she has plans for divorce, but that her husband’s wanting to see their kids has complicated matters. Currently, he has a court-ordered, twice-per-month visitation schedule, where he must be supervised by his own mother.
By his own mother? Seriously? The one person most likely to not believe the charges he confessed to, since he is her precious son, is expected to keep a watchful eye on his interactions with his children? Couldn’t a more impartial chaperone have been appointed?
Of course not, because the Judge apparently doesn’t think this man did anything seriously wrong.
Yet another story to file with the slut-shaming, victim-blaming rape culture of America’s rape legalization movement.
